Well, we agree with the idea that translation is a very important tool for SLA, actually, in my personal experience, learning of English language was completely based on translation tasks; the same happens with the memorisation of new terms, it's easier to remember them once you've written them down... but again, as Silvia says, I suposse it depends on the kind of learner you are
We also found very interesting the idea of an "intelligent" CALL, if I understood correctly, the text mentions the use and analysis of the "memory" of the tools the learners use to accomplish their tasks in order to learn what kind of help they use for each kind of activity. I think that's a very interesting approach which could provide a lot of information on learner profiles and consequently, the possibility of creating a variety of personalized learner strategies.
In our opinion, the use of technologies in SLA is the next logical step,there is an almost infinite number of ways in which we can get closer to other cultures and languages by the use of new technologies, we just have to learn to put everything together.
